An Important Announcement Regarding the Future of The Latz Report

After 35 years in cycling media, I’ve decided that it’s time to take the first step towards retirement from paid work and to put our media business up for sale. This includes The Latz Report and Micromobility Report websites, newsletters, Yearbooks and related assets.

This has not been an easy decision to make, but I know it’s the right one, and having decided, then it’s best to act now.

I’d like to start by thanking our team, Ed, Marli and Gary, for the great job they all do, that I hope can continue under new ownership.

This is not a forced sale, nor does it need to be rushed. We will definitely publish the 2025 editions of The Latz Report Yearbook and the Micromobility Report Yearbook and continue the newsletters at least until this Christmas.

I will be continuing with our separate Latz Business Coaching activities, which includes some bike retailers as well as clients from other industries. Plus I’ll most likely be continuing with some freelance writing, including the series I’ve been writing for Flow Mountain Bike for the past six months or so.

I’ve decided to make this announcement to all of our subscribers today for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, we’ve just posted a business for sale advertisement on Seek Business. It’s likely that at least a few of our subscribers will see that advertisement and rather than have the news gradually spread, I’d prefer to tell everyone at the same time.

Secondly, there’s a chance that one of you may know someone that you think might be interested in taking over this business.

I’m certainly hoping that the right person steps up. I’ve always thought that the Australian and NZ bicycle trade benefits from having a dedicated media source, just like so many other countries around the world do from their respective publications and websites.

Needless to say, if a successful sale is finalised, you’ll all hear about it via a future email. Until then, it’s business as usual!

Thanks for reading this and for your ongoing support.

Best regards
Phil Latz
