Retailing for $150, the Shanren Miles is extremely well priced for a GPS cycle computer, yet it’s absolutely packed with features. Despite its slim profile, the Miles has a 2.1 inch backlit screen and offers 25 hours of run-time.
It features ANT+ connectivity to link with various third-party heart rate and power measuring devices. Bluetooth allows for data transfer (if you’re uploading to Strava for example) and Shanren offers a range of speed, heart rate and cadence sensors for indoor training applications.
Possibly the most unique feature is the built-in power meter; which interpolates data (speed, acceleration, gradient, mass of rider/bike and so on) to estimate your power output—something that really differentiates the Miles from the competition.
Shanren even makes arm-mounted heart rate measuring band. Fitting to your upper forearm, bicep or tricep, the Beat 15 retails for $70 and presents an alternative to chest-strap heart rate monitors.
It utilises a high-precision optical sensor and a proprietary algorithm to measure heart rate, which is transferred to cycling computers or gym equipment via BLE or ANT+ connections. It can even pair directly with a smartphone with the data viewed using the Shanren app.
