Schwalbe Radial Tyres Offer Multiple Advantages

It’s different… and better!
For decades, radial tyres have been the first choice for motor vehicles, but they’ve been slower to take off for bicycles.
Schwalbe have always been at the cutting edge of tyre technology and now after three years of development behind the scenes, they’ve just launched new Radial Technology that offers multiple advantages.
What does Radial Mean?
The basis for the radial tyre is a completely re-thought construction of the typical cross-ply bicycle tyre carcass. Most bicycle tyres carcasses have threads that runs at a 45deg angle. The radial construction means these threads now run at a more obtuse angle, giving more compliance which converts to dampening benefits and importantly better grip.
Bigger Contact Patch
Radial tyres give a 30% bigger contact patch for better grip. Even at 50% higher pressure, the contact patch is still 15% bigger than for a non-radial tyre.
Better Impact Rebound Control
Radial tyres more quickly and easily conform to the shape of a rock or root when you ride over it because there’s less interlacing between the carcass threads, so less of the tyre is impacted. This makes for a smoother, more comfortable, safer ride. Schwalbe are so excited about this benefit that they say it’s their biggest development in their history of MTB tyres.
Three Radial Models
The Schwalbe Albert is their top performance radial tyre. It has been developed to provide the advantages of radial tyres while retaining super low rolling resistance. It comes in multiple sizes and model uses.
Their Shredda Gravity has a more aggressive tread pattern and is ideal downhill and e-MTB’s.
There are also multiple radial versions of Schwalbe’s trusted Magic Mary tyres.
