New Directors and Chair Elected at BIA AGM
On Thursday 23rd January, Bicycle Industries Australia (BIA) held its annual general meeting during the Tour Down Under in Adelaide.
BIA represents Australia’s bicycle industry across a wide range of collective issues including Australian Standards as they relate to bicycles, helmets and other key product categories, tariffs, bicycle mechanics training and other issues.
Executive Officer Peter Bourke reported to the meeting that BIA currently has 41 member companies, of whom 38 had been consistent members throughout the past six years.
Although the membership has been static, he was pleased to report that many new faces have joined the Board of Directors.
Prior to 2011 when Peter started in the role, there were only four directors, three of whom had a combined 75 years’ experience on the board. Since then there have been 24 directors with an average of 3.5 years served.
At the AGM a record number of 10 directors were elected: Rian Bell (Ride Sports), Martin Clucas (Giant), Tim Dawson (Shimano), Andrew Eames (Trek), David Evans (SRAM), Leonard Greis (Après Vélo), Melanie Lamboun (Bike Exchange), Graeme Moffett (Pon.Bike), Jamie Walsh (Global Leisure) and Dave Mohr (FE Sports).
Dave Mohr (who joined the meeting via phone link) was elected unopposed as Chair of the Board.
