Aeroe Arrives in Australia Through BikeSportz Partnership
Dunedin, NZ
NZ bike rack specialist aeroe has officiallly arrived in Australia, after partnering distributor BikeSportz Imports.
The Dunedin-based company, established five years ago, is renowned for its patented Spider Rear Rack, a versatile system designed to fit on virtually any bicycle.
The brand has won multiple Design & Innovation Awards, one of Europe’s premier design prizes, and this year claimed several accolades in the Best of 2023 awards by German magazine World of MTB.
BikeSportz announced Australian dealers and customers can look forward to accessing aeroe’s range of products soon.
aeroe used this year’s Eurobike 2023 in Germany to introduce its new Spider Pannier Rack to the European market.
The pannier rack was initially unveiled at the Sea Otter Classic in the US, where the feedback was “how soon can we buy it”, according to aeroe product development lead Phil Gallagher.
Speaking at Eurobike, where the pannier system was a finalist at the Frankfurt trade show’s 2023 Awards, Phil said the new model borrows much of its design from the original Spider Rear Rack and adapts it to the commuter market, which is already accustomed to using panniers.
“We wanted to be the rack brand that fits any pannier brand,” he said.
Weighing just 1.1kg, the pannier system has been rated to 16kg but has been successfully tested at weights far greater.
aeroe started shipping the new model in August and has received requests from other markets, such as hunting and fishing brands, to incorporate set-ups that will accommodate their accessories.
The company’s founders, brothers Mike and Paddy Maguire, started designing bicycle racks 12 years ago. Their original quick mount release rack design, the Freeload Rack, was bought by Thule in 2012 and is now sold as the Swedish company’s ‘Tour Rack’.
Last month’s introduction to the Australian market continues aeroe’s recent international expansion. In August, aeroe announced it is partnering with UK and Ireland distributor Madison to expand into those markets.
