Australia’s Three Major Cycle Sport Bodies Working Towards Merger
Cycling Australia, Mountain Bike Australia and BMX Australia are well down the path of a plan to merge into a single structure called One Cycling.
If the merger goes ahead, members will be able to participate in all disciplines under a single licence. The move will not only merge the three sporting bodies but also the respective state level cycle sport associations that currently operate under BMX Australia and Cycling Australia.
Other intended benefits include more efficient administration and better commercial sponsorship opportunities.
Following a range of meetings and member forums during August and September 2019, the proposed merger will be voted on by members of each current organisation during October and November 2019. If approved, One Cycle would commence in the second quarter of 2020 and be fully operational by December 2020.
