Bianchi Creates Australian Distribution Business
Effective from 1st November 2020 a newly formed entity, Bianchi Australia Pty Ltd will be taking over distribution of Bianchi Bicycles from the previous distributor, SOLA Sport.
They will be based in a new head office in Sydney, NSW.
In a press release, Bianchi CEO Fabrizio Scalzotto stated “The creation of Bianchi Australia will enhance Bianchi’s market penetration and efficiency in the Asia-Pacific region. We want to thank SOLA Sport for their support and dedication in recent years. We appreciate their contribution toward a smooth transition to the new Bianchi Australia.”
Bianchi said that it was pursuing a more direct presence in key markets such as Australia. They said that it was part of a wider move to promote sales growth by creating its own distribution networks.
There are many details yet to be revealed such as who will be running the company in Australia and exactly what its structure will look like.
Bianchi is part of the Gramaldi Industri Group which is a diversified group of companies headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to Bianchi, they own other bicycle brands including Gitane and Peugeot.

In a subsequent press release, Bianchi announced that they would be taking over as the bicycle sponsor of Australia’s only WorldTour cycling team, GreenEdge Cycling. You can read more in a separate article.
Meanwhile SOLA Sport will continue with business as usual, both as a suspension service centre and parts and accessories wholesaler with six brands: Cinettica, Easton, Fox, Marzocchi, Netti and Raceface. We’ll publish more information regarding Bianchi Australia as it becomes available.
