Latest New Products from Taipei Cycle. 2025 Yearbook – last call for updates!

Welcome to this special edition of the Latz Report newsletter!

In my “final” Latz Report Newsletter just before Christmas 2024 I gave myself some “politicians’ wriggle room” in saying that I may publish an occasional on-off newsletter.

For 2025 my plan is to publish a grand total of two newsletters: the one you’re reading now that focuses upon the recent Taipei Cycle show and a visit to SRAM’s main Taiwan factory and then in July I’ll publish a Eurobike report possibly with some other European news, after I spend a few weeks there in June.

Most importantly I’d like to remind both retailers and wholesalers that we’re still publishing the annual Latz Report Yearbook, with work on the 2025 edition well underway. As always, every bike store, wholesaler and other industry member will get a print copy mailed to them free of charge. You can also access the flipbook version here, where the 2025 edition should replace the current 2024 version from Friday 13th June.

If you’re a wholesaler and need to update your listing, our portal will be open until 5pm Friday 23rd May. That’s also the material deadline for all advertising artwork. If you’d like to advertise, please let me know by Friday 16th May.

If you’re a retailer and you’ve moved address, opened a second location or made any other changes that should be reflected in our mailing list, please also let us know by Friday 23rd May.

For all Yearbook advertising enquiries, please contact me on 0414 637 886 or email phil@thelatzreport.com.au. For all mailing list changes, help updating your listings via our portal or other administrative related questions please contact Gary Wells on 0414 684 747 or email gary@thelatzreport.com.au

Looking at the bigger picture, there has been a lot of interesting bicycle industry news in Australia that has gone unreported since I “retired” in December and I would love to share some more with you, but I’m going to resist the temptation! Meanwhile I’m still actively creating content via two other platforms…

If you visit Flow Mountain Bike you’ll find that I’ve been writing industry columns there that publisher Mick Ross decided to name Stats with Latz. To my surprise, when I just went there to paste that link, I noticed that I’ve written nine Stats with Latz articles already. Plus there’s at least a couple more in the pipeline. This has been a totally unexpected opportunity that came out of the blue, initially via a surprise request for an industry article or two. I’m not sure how long it will continue, (Flow could come to their senses and put me out to pasture…) but for now, you can still read some Australian bicycle industry news there.

For those of you who are interested in bicycle advocacy and broader issues around sustainable cities and transportation, our Squeaky Wheel Podcast is well underway. You can find it on your favourite platform or visit the Squeaky Wheel Podcast website here.

Finally, there have been tough times for many in the Australian bicycle industry, but I remain optimistic about our long term prospects. I base my optimism not simply on “blind faith” but on a sober review of the many tailwinds and wide range of irrefutable benefits from all styles of cycling. These can’t be prevented from rising to the surface, just like you can’t stop a bubble rising.

Until I write to you again in July, keep fighting the good fight to grow your business and our industry!
