Four New Board Members for Bicycle Industries Australia
Melbourne, Victoria
Bicycle Industries Australia’s board has been bolstered by a number of newcomers, including representatives of the nation’s three largest bike brands.
Delegates from Specialized Bicycle Components (planning and operations manager Wade Budden), Trek Bicycle Asia Pacific (advocacy and engagement manager Mark Eedle) and Giant Group (marketing manager Alistair Wilson) were confirmed as new board members late last month.
The general manager of sales and marketing for distributor FE Sports, Darren Harper, has also joined the board.
They have joined existing members Graeme Moffett (PON Cycles Australia/NZ managing director), Tim Dawson (Shimano Australia sales manager), Dave Evans (SRAM ARAC director of sales) and Leonard Greis (Apres Velo CEO).
BIA general manager Peter Bourke said the new appointments follow the recent departures of Martin Clucas and Andrew Eames from the board, after contributing a total of more than 12 years to the organisation.
He said that included during the “critical period of Covid and their work ensured bike shops were considered an essential service and could remain open”.
He added the pandemic also interrupted the usual turnover board members, so they typically served terms of five to eight years, instead of three to five.
During these expanded terms, Mel Lambourn and Jamie Walsh stood down late last year.
“The board is made up of representatives of the industry and it is their input, ideas and energy that are critical to BIA delivering the best outcomes for its members and the Australian bicycle industry,” Peter said.
