Diverse Talent to Strengthen We Ride Australia’s Board
On 30th January, the national independent voice for cycling, We Ride Australia, held its annual general meeting in Torquay, Victoria as part of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race event.
At the meeting, two new Directors were appointed.
Professor Ian Buchannan, Director of the Institute for Social Transformation at the University of Wollongong NSW will bring strong expertise in research. He has been researching the way the media treats bicycle related issues and the comments that this elicits from the public. This research is looking for links between certain words used in the article and the nature of the comments. Ian is a recreational cyclist.
Peter Williams from Melbourne is both an accountant, entrepreneur and best selling author of the 2018 Institute of Public Accountants Business Book of the Year, ‘Cadence, A Tale of Fast Business Growth’. In terms of cycling, he has a triathlon background.
Peter and Ian join the previous directors, all of whom agreed to continue: Matt Bazzano from Shimano, Neelesh Mehta from Bikecorp who is Chair, David Steadman from Steadyrack, Adrian Smith and Amanda Stevens.
