Lekker Launches Third Brand Store in Australia

Brisbane, Queensland

Lekker Bikes, an urban commuter specialist with a heritage from Amsterdam but its roots in Australia, has launched a third brand store in this country.

The company recently opened Lekker Bikes Brisbane, to accompany its brand stores in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Amsterdam and Berlin.

The new is located at Albion Fine Trades, which just outside the Brisbane CBD and is a hub for the city’s artisan community.

The store’s neighbours include a coffee roaster, wine bar and artisan bakery.

Lekker, which has a mix of electric and analogue bikes, is also stocked by several independent stores in Australia, including Ballina, Perth and Canberra.

It was founded in 2009 by Dutch industrial engineer Meindert Wolfraad, who had arrived in Sydney the previous year on his gap year travels.

He was perplexed by the lack of people getting around by bike and set out to do something about it.

His solution was Lekker, named after an Afrikaan word meaning sweet or delicious, and focused on casual cruising to get around.
