Adventure Brands Goes Global

On 1st October Jamie Walsh, founder and owner of Adventure Brands announced the sale of his business to Global Fitness and Leisure.

“We have experienced a significant increase in demand for our products, especially the iconic Rocky Mountain brand,” Jamie said in his official announcement. “To best enable the business to flourish, it was agreed that combining resources would be a wise strategic move.

“As well as enabling Rocky Mountain to continue its unprecedented growth, Global Fitness and Leisure will facilitate improved representation of two other internationally renowned bike brands, Jamis Bicycles and Eastern BMX.

“My new role will be to lead the Bicycle Division of Global Fitness and Leisure, ensuring improved dealer relationships and guiding the company’s expansion.

“I look forward to helping develop the current Global Fitness and Leisure products including XDS and ICON.”

Jamie is well known to many bicycle trade members, having a long career that has included managing Repco and later Avanti, prior to founding Adventure Brands.

Global Fitness and Leisure is a large diversified company, as the name suggests, that recently moved into larger, brand new purpose designed premises in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Their non-bike brands include Lifespan Fitness and Lifespan Kids. GFL commenced trading in 2000. It also sells its brands into the USA and China. The company is owned by William Huang and managed in Australia by Peter Tawaf.
