Trek E-Cargo Confirmed for Australian Release in April

Trek’s return to the e-cargo bike sector, the Fetch+ series, will make its way to Australia and NZ next month, with the local release of the Fetch+2 longtail.

The company says it expects stock will arrive in mid-April and will be available globally on trekbikes.com and through Trek’s retail partners.

The Fetch+2 is the more compact of the two models unveiled by Trek last month.

It can be fitted with two aftermarket child seats at the rear and can be adapted as the children grow.

The Fetch+2 has a total carrying weight of 200kg, with the rear pannier and rack rated to 72kg each and the front rack able to carry up to 9kg.

The larger, front-loading Fetch+4 won’t be part of Trek’s initial e-cargo release in Australia.

A statement by the company says: “Based on industry and consumer research, the Trek ANZ markets are launching into the exciting e-cargo category with the Fetch+2 model initially, with the potential to expand into further models into the future.”

The Fetch+ fleet uses Bosch’s new BES3 Smart digital e-bike system, with a drive unit developed specifically for cargo bikes and delivering 85nm of torque alongside 250 watts of power.

In addition, the Fetch+2 is fitted with the Bosch Powertube 500-watt-hour battery.

Both models have adjustable stems and seat posts to easily fit multiple riders, while the Fetch+2 has an optional Family Pack including a safari bar for handholds, seat pads for added cushioning, and a padded back reset.
