Fashionable Bike Brand Veloretti Purchased by Pon.Bike
Cloppenberg, Germany
Dutch bike conglomerate Pon.Bike announced this month it is acquiring fashionable bike brand Veloretti, also based in Amsterdam.
Veloretti is one of Europe’s fastest growing direct-to-consumer bicycle brands, founded 10 years ago and now active in 27 countries.
A statement from Pon said Veloretti will “continue to function independently under the leadership of founder Ferry Zonder”.
“In the coming years, the focus will be on further international growth,” it says.
“The brand is known for the online sale of trendy city and children’s bicycles that are delivered directly to the consumer.”
It launched its first urban e-bikes, the Ivy and Ace, last year.
Ferry said: “Now that we have Pon.Bike next to us as a powerful partner, we can scale up faster and further expand the brand in Europe.
‘It is an important next step in our strategy and we are strengthening our position in the European e-bike market. Together we will make a difference in achieving our ambitions.”
Pon.Bike this year became the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer, comprising 24 brands such as Gazelle, Urban Arrow, Cannondale, Cervélo and Kalkhoff.
Pon.Bike produces its own high-end frames and has six assembly locations, giving the company one of the strongest supply chains in the bicycle industry.
It recently announced it will soon started construction of a new factory in Lithuania.
