Hope Quality, Maximum Value

When it comes to MTB components, you’ll be hard pressed to find a name with better brand credibility than Hope. What may come as a surprise is the competitive pricing that’s offered within the Hope range; something that’s demonstrated perfectly by their Fortus wheels.

These tubeless compatible wheels are machine built and hand finished in Barnoldswick in the UK, and made to suit a range of applications with various rim widths on offer. All feature welded 6061 T6 rim construction and internal widths include 23, 26, 30 and 35mm. Based on current trends, the 30mm rim is the most popular and Hope has two options in this size; the standard version for regular trail riding or a reinforced ‘triple cavity’ variant for enduro and harder gravity-focussed riding.

With stainless steel eyelets, brass nipples and butted Sapim spokes, these wheels are low on gimmick and high on dependability.

All Hope Fortus wheels are assembled using high quality Sapim Race double-butted stainless steel spokes and sensible brass nipples. They also employ the super dependable Hope Pro 4 hubs. Machined from a single forged aluminium billet, the Pro 4 hubs employ stainless steel bearings that are capable of surviving UK riding conditions. The four-pawl ratchet mechanism has 44 points of engagement to deliver a speedy 8.2-degree take-up and the hubs are entirely serviceable.

The triple cavity option in the Fortus 30 creates a stiffer and more robust rim that’s built to handle the rigours of gravity and enduro riding.

Pre-built options are only available in black with boost hubs but customers can also choose to build their own wheels with rims, spokes and hubs offered in all colours and variants from the BikeSportz warehouse. Hope also caters for every freehub option; HG, XD and Microspline.

Hope wheel hubs
As you’d expect, the Fortus wheels are built around Hope hubs. The Pro 4 hubs are designed to withstand the worst UK weather while also being fully serviceable.

All of this adds up to a wheelset that’s both dependable and impressively finished. When you consider they retail for $999, they’re guaranteed to be a quick seller.
