South Australian Programmers Create Virtual Charity Ride App

Cycle tour operator Yvette Fuser of Maglia Nera Tours usually runs a full season of cycle tours, including many in Europe. Her company finishes its season with an annual charity Tasmania Circumnavigation ride.

Thanks to Covid, this event also had to be cancelled in the physical version, but GoCycle app initiator Greg Goodman and developer Jodie Van Elst were able to save the day by developing a virtual charity ride platform, which they did completely free of charge.

The ride was a huge success raising close to $4,500 for St Giles (a Trust for disadvantaged people) and Fortem Australia (which supports First Responder families) combined.

GoCycle have now made their app free for use by any Registered Charity running a charity bike ride. They can be contacted at www.gocycle.com.au

Meanwhile, hopefully like many other cycling events that were cancelled over the past year, the Tasmania Circumnavigation ride should be back in physical format for 2021, assuming all goes to plan with Covid vaccines.
