We Ride Australia’s Bicycle Summit Announced, But USA Tour Cancelled

Australia’s bicycle industry funded national cycling advocacy organisation We Ride Australia has announced that their annual Australian Bicycle Summit will be held in Canberra.

This year’s Summit will return to Canberra after a four year absence while the summit was held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne respectively.

The date has been set for Wednesday 19th August to coincide with a sitting week of the Federal Parliament. Of course this will be subject to Covid-19 restrictions having been lifted prior to that date.

The venue will be Parliament House Canberra with a gala dinner in the Mural Hall in the heart of the parliament building at which the 16th annual Cycling Luminaries Awards will be presented.

Meanwhile We Ride have cancelled their planned 2020 Study tour to the West Coast of the USA and Canada, which was due to be held in September.

We Ride said that, “The threat of the Covid-19 virus outbreak has unfortunately had an impact on our plans which we have placed on hold for the time being.

“The spread of the virus is expected to continue and travel insurance coverage is likely to be difficult to secure for the virus.

“The 2019 study tour followed a comprehensive program meeting with city and state transport leaders and some of the World’s leading innovators in AV and smart tech. It was a truly unique opportunity for Australian officials and leaders to understand and learn from tech leaders in three key US and Canadian cities of Vancouver, Portland and San Francisco.”
