Florida company Bird Global last month released its BirdBike in the Australian market, for sale through some of the country’s largest appliance and electrical retailers.
A year after BirdBikes were launched into overseas markets, Bird announced its two models of the e-bike will be sold through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Bike Exchange, as well as its own Australian website, Birdbike.com.au.
Both models feature a 250-watt Bafang rear-hub motor, a battery range of 100km range, seven-speed Shimano drivetrain, integrated LED lights, and a backlit handlebar dash display. They also connect via Bluetooth to the Bird app for added security alarm and battery controls.
Priced at $3,699 in Australia, BirdBike comes in the step-through ‘V-Frame’, which is available now, and the step-over ‘A-Frame’ set to arrive here in summer.
The prominent e-bike and e-scooter share service operator attracted plenty of attention last year when it announced it would be releasing an e-bike for private sale.
