Inside Sydney’s Newest Bike Shop

Sydney Electric Bikes has just opened its fifth Sydney location, Centennial Park.

Strictly speaking, the new store is in Woollahra but it is directly opposite one of the main entrances to Centennial Park, which is by far the most popular cycling destination in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Centennial Park covers 189 hectares and includes a wide 3.8 kilometre cycling loop. According to the park’s website, 750,000 cyclists use the park each year.

Sydney Electric Bikes is initially being run by a team of three, Nick, Rob and Zane who say that business has been busy since they opened a few weeks ago.

Woollahra is in the heart of the ‘old money’ eastern suburbs and early indications suggest that customers are not fazed by the higher prices of top quality ebikes.

Sydney Electric Bikes’ other locations are Hornsby in the outer northern suburbs, Engadine in the outer southern suburbs their main store in Pyrmont only 1km west of the CBD and their workshop and hire bike location a few blocks to the south west of the main store in Ultimo.

Sydney Electric Bikes new store is at 2a Queen St Woollahra at the intersection where it joins Oxford Street, Lang Road and Moore Park Road. This is one of the busiest intersections in Sydney so the left-hand window is entirely devoted to a video wall to run cycling and promotional videos. (Not running when this photo was taken).
