As we wrote about previously here, automotive tyre giant Goodyear, founded in 1898 as a bicycle tyre company and now employing over 54,000 people worldwide, recently re-launched its bicycle tyre division.
Goodyear bicycle tyres became available to Australian dealers from February 2020.
Dealers can make great margins in a high volume sector of the market with Goodyear’s Transit range. This consists of two models, the Transit Speed and Transit Tour.
Both Transit models feature key technologies:
- Depending upon the model either S3 Shell – a 3mm aramid layer below the tread, plus sidewall armour, or Secure – a 5mm aramid layer below the tread plus sidewall armour.
- Dynamic Silica4 – formulated to maximise rolling efficiency while still providing class leading grip in wet conditions.
- Tubeless Complete – tubeless specific beads and casings allowing for easy installation and superior air retention.
- Ebike approved up to 50kph.
This tyre is at home flowing through urban centres and bike paths. It’s a fast rolling urban tyre combining confidence inspiring handling with great durability.
Transit Speeds feature 5mm reflective sidewall strips for visibility.
Modelled after Goodyear’s Assurance All-Season automobile tyre, the Transit Tour combines a durable, utilitarian construction with directional siped tread that that offers unsurpassed all-weather traction. It’s constructed to ebike approved standards and also features 5mm reflective sidewall strips for visibility.
Both the Transit Speed and Transit Tour come in 700 c diameter with 35mm and 40mm width options and recommended retail prices starting from $59.99.
For a relatively modest commitment of just 10 tyres of any single SKU, dealers can get a further 5% of their normal wholesale price when ordering via the PSI B2B website.
Goodyear Tyres are exclusively distributed in Australia by PSI Cycling.
